A few years back I made a bed frame for home. One of the hard maple boards I intended to use had an unattractive knot. I opted to use this location as the site for a decorative inlay, covering up the blemish. As a cat owner, the design of choice was based on a cats paw print.

This is the blemished area. An ellipse is drawn around the knot, identifying the location for the inlay.

Here is the inlay, partly assembled. The surround is white oak.
