The cold molding process involves applying thick (1/16″ to 1/8″) veneers to a mold in layers to build up the hull. Two part marine epoxy is used as the glue holding multiple veneer layers together.
The mold has a compound curve consisting of an exaggerated airfoil shaped ribs arranged along an arc.
The image above is set of perhaps 10 ribs for the mold, clamped together and faired to the same profile.
Above is a stringer laid out on a double sheet of plywood to mark the sides of the mold.
This image shows the ribs fastened to the sides of the mold, with some of the stringers in place.
